Boccia is a Paralympic-only precision ball sport for athletes with severe physical disabilities affecting motor skills, and its inclusion in the Royal Mint's London 2012 sports series reflects the 29-coin set's coverage of Paralympic as well as Olympic events, not just the more familiar mainstream sports.
Struck in smaller numbers than the series' Olympic-sport coins, it's one of the scarcer 50ps in the set and a genuinely interesting find for anyone building a complete Paralympic-plus-Olympic collection.
