The Kew Gardens 50p is the coin every 50p hunter dreams of finding in their change. Struck in 2009 to mark the 250th anniversary of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, it depicts the garden's famous Chinese Pagoda climbed by a stylised leaf and vine border. According to Royal Mint mintage records, only around 210,000 were released into general circulation - by far the lowest circulation mintage of any UK 50p design, which is why it regularly changes hands for many times its face value among collectors, and why it is often nicknamed the "holy grail" of 50p coin hunting.
