The 2011 Aquatics 50p coin is a UK coin that was issued to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics. It is part of a series of 29 coins, each featuring a different Olympic sport. The coin features a swimmer submerged in water and was designed by metal sculptor Jonathan Olliffe.
The coin has two variants:
Face clearly visible
The version that is widely circulating has a swimmer with their face clearly visible underwater.
Watery lines across the face
The second version has watery lines across it. Only 600 of these coins are supposedly produced, making them the rarest circulating 50p ever.
