Peter Rabbit was the first character to appear in the Royal Mint's Beatrix Potter 50p series, launched in 2016 to mark 150 years since the author's birth. Designed by Emma Noble, the coin shows Peter Rabbit mid-hop beneath foliage, closely following Potter's original watercolour illustrations.

As the series opener, Peter Rabbit was struck in large numbers and remains one of the easiest 50p characters to find in change, making it a popular starting point for new collectors even though it carries little premium over face value. Later reissues (2017-2020) mean you may find Peter Rabbit 50ps dated across several years - collectors often try to gather one of each date.
